Situated in Uttarakhand of Garhwal region, Roopkund trek encompasses the true Himalayan beauty. The name of the trek is based on a magnificent lake that remains frozen all through the year. Located at the high elevation and enclosed by the mountain range from all sides, this lake offers the immense beauty of nature.
Day 01 : Arrival Rishikesh
Rishikash to Lohajang (2250m) – 300 km by Road Morning after breakfast drive by cars to Lohajang 8 to 9 hrs, Evening explore the mini township. Overnight food and stay in guesthouse or Camp
Day 02 : Trek towards Tolapani
Lohajang to Tolapani (2900m) – 1st day 12 kms Trek – 5 to 6 hrs – Morning after breakfast the trek starts with packed lunch 1st day trek. We set off walking along terraced hillside alternating with conifer forest, passing the occasional small village. The trek goes steep downhill till we cross a stream and then uphill to camp at Tola-pani. The local villagers also camp at this place with their cattle during summer and Monsoon. Day 03 : Trek to Bedni
Tolapani to Bedni Bugyal (3354m) – 12 kms Trek – 6 to 7 hrs – Morning after breakfast the trek starts with packed lunch to Bedni Bugyal 6 to 7 hrs, The climb gets steeper in places, but we are rewarded with spectacular views of the Nanda Devi group, Trishul (7120m.) and Nanda ghunti (6310m.) being especially prominent. Most of the walk in order to reach Bedni bugyal is all along the ridge with silky grass and provides excellent view all over. Eventually we emerge into the lush green meadows at Ali bugyal and Bedni bugyal at a little over 3354 meters. Overnight stay and food in Camp
Day 04: Trek towards Baguabasa
Bedni Bugyal to Baguabasa (4120m) and 7km trekking4hrs – Morning after breakfast the trek starts with packed lunch to Baguabasa . Overnight stay and food in Camp
Day 05: To Roopkund and back
Baguabasa to Roop Kund back to Baguabasa-: Roop kund is a lake situated at a height of 4620m. in the lap of the Trishul Massif, hidden below a ridge on the periphery of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. It is often called the “Mystery Lake”, as in it lie some 300 corpses dated to the 14th Century AD, well preserved due to the cold and only seen when the lake thaws. There are two versions for these remains; one, that they are the remains of soldiers under General Jorawar Singh’s army which was on its way to Tibet, the other that they are the remains of people on a pilgrimage to Trishul base about 600 years ago.Overnighat camp.
Day 06 : Towards Kanol
Baguabasa to wan to Kanol (2286m) – 15 kms Trek – 6 to 7 hrs – Morning after breakfast the trek starts with packed lunch to 6 to 7 hrs to Kanol. Today you descend down the village of Wan and then climb again towards Kanol passing the Kukin Khal. The route is through dense forest of Rhododendron and Silver oak and cultivated terraces with occasional villages. There are many fine viewpoints. Overnight stay and food in Camp
Day 07 : Trek to Setal
Kanol to Setal (1592m) – 12 kms Trek – 6 to 7 hrs Morning after breakfast the trek starts with packed lunch to Setal 6 to 7 hrs, today mostly all the trek down till Setal. Today camp is near Nandakini River. Overnight food and stay in camp.
Day 08 : To Haridwar and departure
Setal to Ghat and then Haridwar 250 kms bay jeep 7 to 8 hrs tour end, departure at night
