The Parang La Pass Trek that passes to the scenic valleys of Ladakh, is one of the most popular trekking trails in the Ladakh-Spiti valley. Offering astounding views of the towering mountains and the snow clad peaks. Though scenic all the ways, the Parang La trek originates from the Kara hamlet and continues till Karkoza. It starts gaining altitude as it makes its way through Sipti Valley and finally takes the trekkers to the Tsomoriri Lake.
Route : Manali – Kaza – Kibber – Parangla – Tso moriri – Korzok – Leh
Day 1 : Manali arrival.
Check in into the hotel, rest till lunch then prepration for trek with local sightseeing to Goddess Hadimba Devi , Manestery.
Day 2 : Drive from Manali to Kaza(3600m, 120kms/9-10hrs)
It is a scenic drive to Kaza through the Rohtang Pass. Get acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight stay will be in Kaza.
Day 3 : Trek starts1
One of the most popular trek which takes the trekker from Kaza Over Prangla Pass (18302ft) into Ladakh. It is the traditional trade route between ladakh and Spiti. Kaza to Dumla (18km/4 hrs). Drive From Kaza to Kibber (4270m) through Ki monastery at Kibber village is one of the highest inhabited settlements in India. It is 10 km away before beginning the trek . Then trek from Kibber to Dumla.
Day 4 : Dumla to Thaltak Meadow (4875m, 8kms/ 5-6hrs)
There is a steep walk to Thaltak Meadow. The site is very beautiful and here the Gorge is deep.
Day 5 : Thaltak to Jagtha-Bongrojen (5180m, 14kms/6-7hrs).
This will be a long day walking to Jagtha appx. 8 kms at 4786m, then 6kms to Bongrojen at 5182m.
Day 6 : Bongrojen to Dak Karzong (4940m, 10kms/5-6hrs)
We have to start early in the morning, the 4kms are steep and it takes appx. 2 hours to reach Parang La at 5580m. The pass lies on the trade route between Ladakh and the Spiti valley. The first conical Ladakhi peak which is visible from Spiti is Parilungi.
Day 7 : Dak Karzong to Datang Yongma (4725m, 12kms/5hrs)
The trail from here onwards for 3 days is well marked. It is on the left bank of the Pare Chu.
Day 8 : Datang Yongma-Chumik shilde (15kms/5-6hrs)
Today we will start early in the morning as there is a strong wind in the afternoon and follow the trek to racholemo (4268m), then Norbu Sumdo (4395m) and across to Chumik Shilde.
Day 9 : Chumik Shilde to Tso Moriri (4510, 15kms/5-6hrs)
The trek is on the plains to the southern edge of the oval shaped Tso Moriri at Kingdom. This lake truly a photographers paradise also this is the breeding ground of several rare species of birds.
Day 10 : Tso Moriri to Karzong (4527m, 15kms/7-8hrs)
The trek passes along the shore of Tso Moriri. The view of the lake with Lungser Kangri (6666m) in the background is memorable.One can visit ancient manoastery in Karzong.Visit the ancient monastery in Karzog, where the Changpas roam the pastures with their flocks of pashmina goats and still live in yak skin yurts.
Day 11 : Karzong to Leh (213kms/9-10hrs)
Day 12 : Deaprture in the morning after breakfast.
